The sacraments are the great milestones of Catholic life. Our parish accompanies you and your family at every step — from Baptism to Marriage to the Anointing of the Sick.
Becoming part of the Church
Baptism
Baptism is the doorway to the Christian life. Parents wishing to have their child baptised attend a preparation evening with the parish team, exploring the meaning of the sacrament and the role of parents and godparents. Baptisms are celebrated during or after our weekend Masses, surrounded by the parish family.
Adults seeking Baptism are welcomed through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
First Holy Communion
Children in our parish prepare for their First Holy Communion through a family-centred program run with our local Catholic school community. Sessions are held over several weeks, concluding with the joyful celebration of First Communion at a Sunday Mass.
Confirmation
In Confirmation, young people are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and take up their place as adult members of the Church. Candidates prepare with catechists and sponsors, reflecting on their faith and how they will live it out in service of others.
God’s mercy and strength
Reconciliation (Confession)
The sacrament of Reconciliation is the Church’s great gift of mercy — a personal encounter with the forgiveness of Christ. It is available every Saturday from 5:15 to 5:45 pm before the Vigil Mass, and at any other time by appointment with the parish priest. Communal reconciliation services are held during Advent and Lent.
Anointing of the Sick
Anyone facing serious illness, surgery or the frailty of age can receive the Anointing of the Sick. Our priest and pastoral team also bring Holy Communion to parishioners who are housebound, in hospital or in aged care across Dromana and the surrounding area. Called to love and serve
Marriage
Couples choosing to marry in our beautiful church at Dromana prepare with the parish priest over several months, including an approved marriage preparation course. We ask couples to make contact at least six months before their hoped-for wedding date. Enquiries are welcome through the parish office.
Holy Orders
Some men in our community discern a call to serve the Church as priests or deacons. If you are exploring a vocation, our parish priest is happy to talk with you and can connect you with the Vocations Office of the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.
