A parish runs on volunteers — readers and singers, gardeners and morning-tea legends, visitors and welcomers. Whatever your gift, there's a place for it here.
01 — Ways to serve
Six ministries, one altar.
No experience is needed for most roles — training and a friendly mentor are always provided. Liturgical ministries are arranged with the parish office.
Readers & ministers
Proclaim the Word at Mass or assist as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. Clear voice optional; love of Scripture essential.
Music & song
Singers and musicians lead the parish in worship. If you can carry a hymn or play an instrument, the loft is calling.
Altar servers
Young people who have made their First Communion can serve at the altar — one of the oldest and proudest ways to belong to a parish.
Hospitality & welcome
Greet at the door, hand out hymn books, put the kettle on after Mass. The first smile a stranger receives might be yours.
Pastoral visiting
Visit the sick, the elderly and the housebound; bring Communion and company to those who can no longer come to us.
Church & garden care
Flowers for the altar, tidy pews, a garden that says "welcome" before the door even opens. Working bees, gloves provided.
02 — What to expect
Start with one Sunday.
Volunteering here begins simply: have a chat after Mass or email the parish office, and we'll match you with a ministry that suits your gifts and your schedule. There's no minimum commitment and no guilt — rosters are flexible and life comes first.
Roles involving children or vulnerable people require a Victorian Working with Children Check and safeguarding training, in line with the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne's requirements. We'll help you arrange it — it's straightforward, and it keeps everyone safe.
Students, retirees, tradies, teachers — the best parish rosters look exactly like the parish itself.
